What makes microporous board thermal conductivity lower than still air?
Microporous boards leverage their unique nanoporous structure and the synergistic effects of various additives to remarkably inhibit heat transfer through conduction, convection, and radiation across a wide range of temperatures. This superior performance positions them ahead of traditional insulation materials such as mineral wool, perlite, insulating bricks, calcium silicate, and ceramic fibers, as well as aerogel felts. Notably, in most temperature ranges, the thermal conductivity of microporous boards is lower than that of static air.

Even at high temperatures, it maintains thermal conductivity lower than static air, outperforming traditional materials like silicate ceramic fibers and calcium silicate.

Translation: This lightweight material achieves effective insulation with just 1/4 to 1/6 the thickness of conventional insulators. At 1160°C, a 25mm thick board keeps the opposite surface at 128°C, meeting national standards and allowing fire-rated elevator doors to remain slim, unlike ceramic fiber insulation, which would require over 100mm.
